Jefe's Guide to Towny (WIP) Empty Jefe's Guide to Towny (WIP)

    Post by jefe323 Sat Aug 13, 2011 3:58 am

(until I get a chance to write the guide...)
    http://code.google.com/a/eclipselabs.org/p/towny/wiki/HowTownyWorks

I'll probably also make a video

    (skip ahead to 11:00)

    Help commands:

/towny (will give you a bunch more possible help commands)
    /towny ?

How to make a new town:
If you want to make a new town, or add your existing town to the new system, use the following command:

    /town new [name]
(make sure you are in your town when you use this command)

This will create a new town called [name] where you are standing. Your town starts off as 16x16 (its per chunk). To deposit money into your towns bank (needed to expand your town), use the command:

    /town deposit [amount]

If you want to make your town larger, first move one chunk in either direction (you'll see "~Wilderness" pop up when you get there). Then run the following command (it will deduct $25 from your towns bank):

    /town claim

How to add/remove players to your town:
When a player wants to join your town, use the following command:
    /town add [player]
When you want to remove a player from your town, use the following command:
    /town kick [player]

One of the nice things about Towny is that you can set protection without admin help.

The town mayor can use the following commands:

/town set perm outsider build off
/town set perm outsider destroy off

These two commands will make it so anyone not in your town or nation can't build or destroy any blocks you've claimed for your town (see /town claim).

Some other useful commands. (More to be added):

/t spawn townname - allows for quick warping to Towny towns
/t set spawn - allows the town mayor to set their town's warp location
    /town list
    /nation list

lol, well I really like the idea. I think its just going to take some getting used to. Like I said yesterday it would be cool if you could some how find a way to integrate the Towny Map with the Dynamap. To see visual borders instead of just "~Jorvik"

Jefe's Guide to Towny (WIP) Empty Towny Map

Post by henryryckeley Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:34 pm

Helpful command to show the Towny Map as you walk the land:

    /resident set mode map

    to turn off:
    /resident set mode clear

I'd suggest changing UI scaling to normal or small when using this, as it takes up much of the screen.

    Some other useful commands are:

/resident set mode townclaim = claim as walk
/resident set mode townunclaim = unclaim as walk
/resident set perm resident/ally/outsider = toggle permission for ally/residents/outsiders (can also be done more detailed)

I just posted a complete guide from the Towny web site on our wiki. Check it out for a list of all commands! And don't worry, I cited my source Wink
